  • I have received messages from a couple of you wondering if we were affected by all the devastation here in Wisconsin.

    Thank God we are fine.

Our town juts out into Lake Michigan, and it has a very sandy soil.  Water drains very well here.  Our two rivers are running pretty well right now though, after all the rain we have had.

DIL, Lori, stopped in with some of the grands a little while ago.  They had been west of town, near a small dam.  Took the following picture:

I hope you can make out the boat stuck up against the top edge of the dam. It is a little hard to see through the mist of the water.  It, and part of it’s dock, broke loose upriver, and lodged at the edge of the dam.  I hope the owner is able to rescue the boat before it goes over the dam and possibly breaks apart.

The next town south had a few roads flooded for a while, and a couple trees fell on homes.  They have more of a clay soil down there.

I was planning on going to church last night, but saw all the storms coming, and told Ken I was staying home.  He went alone.  We go to church in the town to the south of us. Our newer pastor did the service, and the city sirens went off during the service, and he didn’t know what to do.  He is a young man from California.  He called the other pastor, who was watching the radar on TV at home.  Said he would call the new pastor if he saw anything threatening nearby.  Everyone could go down into the basement if anything had been threatening.  Ken had to take an alternate route home because of some streets closed due to flooding.   All our local TV channels were doing weather all the time during the storms.  We had some good downpours, and lightning and thunder, but a lot less than just 40 miles to the west.  Oshkosh got over 6″ in a short period of time, and their high school was flooded.  Lost lots of sporting equipment and computers.

I really feel sorry for the southern and southwestern areas of WI, which were really devastated by all the rain and flooding.  This is one time I am happy to be living where we live!  The only thing I worried about was a tree coming down onto the house—we have a lot of old trees on our lot

    Thanks for your concern!

I only have two more sessions of cardiac rehab.  I will miss it.  I enjoy all the people there—–we are all in the same boat, and most of us even have the same cardiologist.  Most of the others have had bypass surgeries, a couple of us have had stents inserted.  Fun to compare notes!  I mentioned that when I started I was the only woman in my time slot.  All the men have “graduated”, and now the group is all women with only one man!!

Saturday we have two graduation parties to go to in the afternoon and early evening.  One is a former pastor’s grandchild, and the other is our next-door neighbor’s son.  Of course there are isolated thunderstorms in the forecast!!!  At least we won’t have far to go if it rains next door!!  lol

  • I too have been wondering how  you are doing  and was glad to hear that all is going okay for you,  your state and so many others have really been through a lot, we had hard storms here this week in are part of PA but no flooding, are electric was off for 24 hours  a tree had came down on are road and hit some wires and started to burn so they did not get to are area till wed night ,  the light company was so busy with so much damage in the surrounded area so we had some time with out and lights and water but we made it through and thank God that thing were not worse

          Have a great weekend,

  • Glad you are safe. I’m sorry I haven’t inquired about you more and sooner but betcha you understand my situation here. Supper went off well. Kids are really being good but they do have lots of energy. We leave home at 5a.m. tomorrow to get g-son to his swim meet by 7a.m. over in KS. YUCK! Hope they sleep all the way. Just putting the g-dau in the car in her jamas and will dress her there.

  • Glad to hear you weren’t effected. Judi

  • I am just catching up on reading the old sites and new ones.  We have lots of trees around us too but so far the storms have gone around us.  Daughter is missing most of it also except for some water in their shop which is caused by a drainage problem.  Take care and try to stay active. I know it is a challenge!

  • I’m glad you’re ok.  I was concerned so very happy to hear from you.

Haven’t been around Xanga much but do check in once in awhile to see how my friends are doing.

    Take care of yourself.

  • ditto to OK comments. As for the owner of the boat, I should hope he stays away from it in those conditions.

  • I have been keeping track of the weather in your area. Lots of storms, passing tornadoes, torrential rain, but you have survived. The river is beginning to flood here. We have had the same weather plus all that water from up north is traveling down here now. Luckily, I am not anywhere near the river. I’m really glad I don’t live in Cedar Rapids. Glad you are safe.

  • I didn’t realise that the weather had been so bad in parts of the US   I’m glad that you and the family are safe and well. The rehab seems to have passed quickly -did it for you ? Do you get a certificate when you ” graduate ” You will have to keep up the important exercises if you want to stay well. Marie

  • I was wondering about that….hope you continue to stay safe.

  • Hi MissMimiwi. I am so glad you are ok. I get worried everytime I see horrific weather any where my friends live. I have another xanga friend misyapa who has been posting flood pictures on her site. I dont know what is going on with the weather in our country this year, but something is amiss.
Take care of you and Ken.

  • P.S. I love your eye glasses!

  • One more thing … I have read every Stuart Woods book. He is one of my top 5 authors of all time.

  • Glad you are safe , I onl;y know where Nanny lives .I just can’t keep tags of all my others friends places on Xanga but we always get your bad news they are not so keen to pass on anything good the press over here depend on disasters for news.
