  • Talked to Jeff today.

The travelers are now in Tucson.

They have been there a couple days already, but just today found a place to stay.

They picked the wrong month (lodging-wise) to be there.

The HUGE Gem and Mineral show is going on now, as well as La Fiesta de los Vaqueros---Rodeo week.  Then there is also Spring Training, which is very popular out there.

My niece had planned on staying in Tucson overnight this week, but ended up either not going or returning to Phoenix the same day because there wasn't a motel room to be found!

Jeff found a job for two weeks at a sign company.  Several workers are from Wisconsin.  He starts on Monday.

On their way to Tucson from Why, they stopped and toured Kitt Peak Observatory.

They also walked the Presidio area of downtownTucson (very old), and window shopped at a lot of little stores there.

They hope to get to Old Tucson while there, and Kenny would like to go up to Mt. Lemmon for snowboarding.

I hope they enjoy MY Tucson.  I have lots of wonderful memories of growing up there, and, of course, that is where Ken and I met.  Jeff told us to fly out there while they are there, but Ken doesn't seem to be too interested.  I think he is afraid the snow will miss him!!  lol

    ----------------------------

I'm still hibernating.  Lots of snow lately.  This past weekend my lower back went out of whack.  It is finally getting better, but mornings are still a bit painful for a couple hours.  I haven't had this happen for about 12 yrs!  Bummer!!

Ken was a sweetheart yesterday, the 13th.  He brought me tulips (planted) for Valentine's Day.  He also bought another one and surprised our daughter-in-law in town, and candy for the grands.  All his idea.

Today, the grands stopped in with a yummy chocolate chip cookie bar shaped like a valentine.  It was so pretty. Thanks kids!

  • Happy Valentines Day. Judi

  • Awww, Happy Valentine's day! Hope this day was romantic

  • The travellers are doing really with seeing so many places. That was a lovely cookie you both got from the Grans

  • Stay warm and take care of that back.

  • Ohhh that cookie looks so good.  Well done Ken, aren't we lucky to have  thoughtful sweethearts.

  • You two SHOULD FLY OUT TO TUCSON!!!  It would be SO NICE to see it again and reminisce!! And of course, to see the kids.   GO!!!

  • Someway or another I've managed to eliminate Jeff's site from my computer. Can you help me get it back?

I hope you get some better weather soon. Why don't you fly down even if Ken doesn't want to go. I think that is my worst failing. If Wil doesn't go I don't go and that is silly. He wouldn't care if I went and it looks like if I'm ever going to fo anywhere it is going to have to be without him. This is where the younger generation has it over us. Most of the women are more liberated in these matters.

  • Just like your cookie, Jeff is one smart cookie!!! Pardon the pun! What an experience this has been for the whole family. And he finds work on the way. Can you imagine his grandchildren talking about this trip?

  • I'm glad you are keeping us up-to-date with the travellers. I'm with the others - you go to Tucson and leave Ken with his snow ! It would be good for you. Marie

  • What a wonderful and thoughtful act, the cookie!

  • happy your back is getting better; seems like it takes forever, huh? so glad you had a happy "love" day...me too, it was grand! thanks for the travel agenda with the kids; sounds exciting! and thanks to Ken for helping make you and the family's day so sweet! Yes, he is a sweetheart. Well, sweetie, take care, chat soon!

    until next time,
    sage

  • Happy V Day....we had a good time   I tried to email you a joke today but the address I have did not work   So... if you want a stupid joke, please send your email address to me again

  • Ken did well for Valentine ' s Day . I didn't remember you met each other in Arizona . The travellers have certainly a good weather there .
You end your post Nancy in writing " back in the cave " . Does this mean you make retreat in it to hibernate ? I don' t think because you are much active .
Have a great week end .
    Love
    Michel

ps : Did you already have related your memories from Tucson ?

  • Your decor reminded me I should probably change mine. That is the problem with doing theme's on holiday's.

Glad you heard from the gypsie's. lol

  • What a sweet heart and what a nice suprise from the grands.  Glad the travellers are doing well.  Are the kids enjoying it now that they are on the way and doing such interesting things.  It is an education in and of itself to travel like that.  When they do "settle down" again the kids will hopefully look back and realize what an opportunity they had.

I wish I could hibernate!  worked 5 days this week.  Hope your back is all better very soon!  Waiting for the next round of snow to hit us tomorrow.

  • Things sound good in your part of the planet (and in AZ). I hope you don't get all that snow we are missing this weekend. Glad you had a great Valentines Day...your hubby and grands are super.

  • Watch that back and be well soon.

  • Are they going to stay in the West or do they have a plan for where to go next?

  • I need to get over to your son's site and catch on their travels!! I think thats great you got tulips to plant--I got new iris--thats what I wanted and they last for years--not like cut flowers that only last a day or 2.

RYC--As for your offer to send me some snow--NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO---lol--I'm ready for spring !!!

In Texas if it's below 70-we wear a sweater
