SHOCKER!!!!!
Received a call from the travelers last evening.
Jeff loves to be enigmatic when he first starts talking.
He asked me if I was superstitious. I said, "no, not really". He asked if I was superstitious about the number 13. It took me a little while to realize what he was saying.
They are expecting their 7th child, which will make 13 grands for us.!!!!!
The real shocker of this is that their youngest, Kenny, will be 11 1/2 when the new baby is born!
Judy will be 46 in June.
So, needless to say this was quite a surprise for us-------and for them, too. But we are all excited about it. The two grands on the bus are really excited about it, too. Gretta, 14, always enjoyed working with Judy with the daycare Judy ran before they became "travelers".
This will not change their plans at all. Judy is very healthy. When the time is near, they will be sure to be somewhere where medical care is available---which is just about anywhere! I tried to convince him that September in Wisconsin is beautiful. Don't think he fell for it! lol
They figure she got pregnant when they were here with the bus the beginning of December----the beginning of their journey.
It is funny, but when I would talk with Judy, she would complain that she just wasn't feeling the best. That she must have picked up a "bug" that she just couldn't shake. She was having "digestive" problems. She attributed it to all the changes-----living on the bus on the road, etc.---in her life.
I wanted to announce it here last night already, but Jeff had tried calling all the grown kids, but got voice mail for all of them. He was waiting for them to call back to tell them. So, I waited until this morning. Mindy made the announcement on her Facebook, so I know they know.
Ken said that they should try to think up a name related to traveling.
A few weeks ago, Judy said that she was enjoying their adventure, but when Jeff was working they didn't have a car to get around in, and it got boring. I don't think she will be bored anymore!!
Ken was upstairs in bed already when Jeff called. I yelled "WHAT"???? so loudly when Jeff told me, that Ken came downstairs to see what was going on.
I cannot imagine having a baby at that age. Our oldest grand was born when I was 42. (Jeff's oldest) Jacob is now 24.
Just had to share this wonderful surprise with all of my Xanga friends!
Keep them in your prayers---- that everything goes smoothly.

Hehe, shocking indeed. Not a lot of people I know are very supertitous but they believe in luck
Having a baby is a wonderful thing, I guess, so may this be a wonderful blessing
WOW!!! Congratulations Grandma! Isn't it wonderful having a new baby in the family?!
I LOVE your glasses that you are wearing in your profile pic. VERY stylish!
So happy for them...but I don't think I would have the energy for a little one at any age past 40!

Shocking but wonderful news!!
A baker's dozen
Great news but I don't think I could have coped with a new-born when I was Judy's age. Mind you I'm sure we can all cope when we have to and obviously Judy is a wonderful mother so all will be well. I was 32 when my youngest was born and 42 when my first granddaughter was born ! Congrats to you and Ken.
Marie
Congratulations to you all!! If it's a girl perhaps Katrina Rose would be a fitting name?
Congratulations to them!
Congrats on the new grandbaby--hope she does find. I bet that was quite a surprise. And she will have built in babysitters!! I'm glad their excited,,,,,not sure I would be--lol
Congrats to them , I bet you did not except to be a grandmother again.
Surprising, yes. Shocking would have been your announcing you and Ken were having another baby! LOL. Your quiver is certainly full - what joy he/she will bring to all.
I know this child will be loved and wanted etc. BUT OMG.....!!! My cousin had her second g-child last night. The first is named Shelby Ann....good...this poor child is going to go through life with the name of Sadie Josephine! Not that there is anything wrong with either name but this is 2008. lol If they just say Sadie Jo it might be okay. I think Jeff's should name this one whatever it is....SURPRISE!!!
AWESOME!
That is so exciting! But I can't image going though a pregnancy in an RV! Hopefully all will go well. I'm sure she will get all the prenatal care she needs along the way. And It would be nice if they did make their way back up here for the birth, keep talking about it, maybe you could convince them.
I was wondering what Jacob's Facebook status was about...thought that was it, but he never got back to me...probably too much in shock!!! Surprisingly, my grandmother's already had 14 great-grandchildren. The funny thing? We skipped over having just "13" by having twins.
Congrats!
That surprise happens to a lot of familes. lol. A late in life child is a wonderful blessing....the biggest challenge is keeping up the energy to stay up with children and give them what they need. But your two sound up to the challenge! Traveling like this, maybe Jeff will find a special place and "the" special job and they will settle somewhere "great" to raise the baby that wont be full of snow and hazards and will be easy for you to visit frequently and easily. That would be nice for all.
Hugs, Ethel
Oh gosh, what a wonderful thing--congratulations!
Wow! what a surprise! I think that is great news, and I'm glad they are happy!
I am curious how their medical insurance works, with the traveling situation. Have they just purchased individual policies through a carrier or something?
WOW (another echo) 12 1/2 grandchildren! You are truly blessed!
oh how wonderful for you and the family...God Bless! I hope you and Ken are doing well; so happy you got your computer back and running; We have been busy with our stuff, too. We have added a really neat blog to our website, wait till you see. Take care my sweet friend! Chat soon.
hugs and blessings to the family,
sage
ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC:yes::yes::yes::yes:
:sunny::sunny::sunny:
I have a feeling that this new child might be a bit spoiled. Well, certain types of spoiling are very good...loving, cuddling and making the baby feel special.
If you are superstitious about the number 13, you can always encourage one of your children to have another and make it 14!:lol:
I will never get beyond 4 grandchildren. You are way ahead of me. But...that's ok. I've started on the "greats" already.
Congrats Gramma.
No way am I having anymore even though there are 60 year olds having babies.
The whole thing makes me exhausted.
One says " travels form the youth " ! They form also the babies !
Congrats , Nancy !

"WHAT!" I just wanted to see how that felt. My two sons won't give me that many grandchildren, so I was trying on the surprise for size. Congratulations to you and your family. Growth is good.
