  • I have been reading all of you, but not commenting much.

I have been trying to get back to normal around here---whatever that is.

I am just getting year-end things done.

Still need to clear out last year's files and get set up for this year.

In the meantime, things to be filed away are in a pile on top of the filing cabinet.

Think that will be today's project.

Finally got Christmas put away over the weekend.  I don't know about you, but after everything is packed away in the attic, I ALWAYS find something that was forgotten.  No matter how careful I am, something is always overlooked.  This year it was a tiny "Peace" pillow that was hidden behind another pillow on the sofa.  And also a little ceramic elf "Santa" that was hidden behind something else up on a shelf.  Does this happen to you???

Just received a call from the travelers this morning---well, Jeff, actually.  He hasn't updated his blog, because they are not in a place with electricity.  They are outside of Yuma (California side) parked on BLM land (Bureau of Land Management---federal land--for those of you who don't know).  They can stay there free for 14 days.  They tried to get into an RV park, but Jeff said almost all of them are for age 55 and older.  The few others were all filled.  He also got a job at a Yuma sign company for two weeks.  I know a lot of you were wondering how they were financing this journey.  This was part of their plan---to work a bit along the way in order to supplement their savings.

He couldn't talk long.  I think he was on his way to work.  Will call him this evening to find out what has been going on since Bakersfield---or maybe I will call Judy later on today.

Well, the sun is shining for the first time in a week, so I feel ambitious today.  Will hopefully be able to accomplish more than I usually do on cloudy days.  Hate having SAD!!

    Have a good day everyone!!

  • Yup we are still finding bits and pieces and we took down our Christmas decorations on New Years Day!

    Have a great day!

  • You bet!  that happens every year.  This year is was also a pillow for me!

  • Yes, I have a few doodads that I forgot to put away.  Usually they stay where they are until next year:lol::lol::lol:

I haven't completely put things away just yet.  They are just "out of the way" in the shed.  One of these days, I will put them away.  I always have piles of papers hanging around.  I thought computers were supposed to diminish our paper piles....Not when you print up things:yes::yes::rolleyes:

  • ALWAYS!!! Still have to get some things into the crates. SIGH I even bought more Tues. at Hobby Lobby so have to find a place for them.

  • I always have a Christmas decoration that did not make it to the loft It must be nice for the family to be in the same place for a few weeks after all that travelling

  • Hia sweetie,

Seems as though you do have the holidays tucked away. It always seems to be such a chore to put things up and then take them down, which should be the same process, right? Go figure.

Thankful the family is well and moving right along. Hope Ken is well too, and you, young lady, take care of yourself. Chat soon.

    hugs,
    sage

  • A Santa pillow was the one I left out also.  But then, I put it into a plastic "quilt holder" and put it with the other bedding.  I guess we all figure out how to make it work for us.  Last year it was about March before I got things put away, so I am so far ahead this year.  ha!

I figured they weren't in a good place to catch up the blog.  I have been checking every few days, though.  Glad things are going well for them.

  • Working and traveling--truly the old fashioned way of doing it!

  • ...still slowly taking down Christmas here... haven't forgotten anything yet.. but it sure does look bare atround here with everything gone..  i like the tranquility of the lights...  perhaps i should consider a year round tree <grins>  Happy paper filing to ya!!

  • Hi Mimiwi!

Congratulations to Ken! He might be a little older, but I suppose he feels 17!

Thank you for your wishes and for sharing my Christmas! Next year there would be (even) more toys to unwrap! =)

And thank you for sharing yours! Your family is great!

I loved your jeweled Christmas tree, really beautiful, and the work you did with it.

It happen the same with me… My mother made a dry flower jar for the entrance with… several golden balls! I guess they shall be there for a while…=)

    Have a great week!

    Isabel

  • Not only did I forget some things to store, but I found some stuff I had wanted to put up!!! Isn't that a thigh slapper?

I just love what Jeff and Judy are doing and their children will long remember and be telling their children stories of this adventure. I am not supprised about Jeff tho. He came from you and Ken and you head my list of really good parents. You allowed him to live his dreams.

I am so glad the sun is shining for you. You  so deserve it!

    Love with a smile,

    Bev

  • Well by the time I got clear down here to sign I forgot what I was going to say. Something about gas prices I imagine.

  • Belated Merry Christmad and New Year! :) I love reading your posts

  • When I asked Husby who he was rooting for this afternoon, he replied, "Not the Cowboys!"  Thought you'd like that!  : )

I don't know how I missed this post the first time.  I have found this several times lately.  It might be partly because of the tendency of some blogs to repost the same one with the current date.  When I come acrooss it, I think I am "done".  I've tried to keep checking for the bblogs after it, just in case, but I've still missed several.  Sorry!

  • As I sit here by my computer, I see behind me a lot of unfiled clutter on the bed.  In the midst...2 cats sleeping so I can't disturb them.

    Have a wonderful week.

  • RYC:  Phred died about 5 years ago.  His parents moved from here 3 to 4 years ago and he died about 2 years before that.

Oh I really had to think about that.:spinning:  We've been here 12 years and Phred was a part of our community for at least 5 or 6 of those years.  If I don't write things down, I will forget just when things happened.  I have to think sometimes how old my own kids are...:giggle:The problem with writing things down is I forget where I put what I wrote...::yes::rolleyes::lookaround::p:lol:

  • RYC:  we are going on Carnival.. I have not seen the packet of information yet, but we won't have a balcony room, but should have an ocean view if the room number our friends gave is correct.  I am excited and nervious too.

  • Somehow we miss all the Christmas wreaths. My sister commented twice and we finally got them down on the 25th of January! Also found little bits and pieces here and there.

I don't even need to open my eyes or the blinds to know if it's a gray day. There must be more than light issues with SAD. I'm guessing it's barometric pressure.
