I was just getting ready to write a blog this morning, when the telephone rang. It was our local kids, saying that they were coming over in a little bit.
I barely hung up the phone when they knocked on the door. They called from their cell phone while standing outside the house!!
They came bearing gifts—–well, food anyway. Sub sandwiches, potato chips and soda. Thanks kids. The food and the company was great!! Ken and Greg watched the Packers lose.
We certainly didn’t expect them to stop by today, when they had just been here last Sunday. They must be trying to rack up brownie points before Christmas!! lol
I was planning on finally writing about their visit here last Sunday—-our delayed Thanksgiving dinner. Here are some pictures from last week:
The tree, waiting for them to decorate it. I have since taken down the angel from the top. It was too dark. Bought a star to replace it, which you will see in a later picture. The angel was put on the fountain.
Before the decorating, though, we have to fortify ourselves with food!
Ken loves to do dishes, so he was put to that job while I put the food away.
The rest went about their tasks. The kids decorating, Lori unwrapping the ornaments, and Greg—-”supervising”.
Job well done, kids!!
The tree after I put the poinsettias, stars, ribbon, beads and new star on.
Here is the fountain—which is shut off. (I forgot to take the Santa cap off of the angel–lol)
My new Merry Christmas picture. Took a mirror down.
My Christmas theme seems to be angels and nativities. My first Christmas cards are in the bowl. Thanks, Cyn and Fran!!
If any of you know the Frontgate catalog, you know how expensive they are. I love a lot of their things, but certainly cannot afford them. This nativity, and the all white one (shown later on) were in their online outlet catalog after the holidays. I bought this one a couple years ago at 75% off, and the white one I bought after last Christmas at 60% off (I think). LOVE those sales!!
This little nativity is at the base of our tree. One of Greg’s former girlfriends made this for us one Christmas—back around 1980. She painted and fired all the ceramic figurines. I always tease daughter-in-law Lori that I am going to give it to her in my will. When they were here last weekend, I didn’t have the figures unpacked yet. She noticed the bag of figures, and stuck it way underneath everything in the ornament storage bin. I realized it was missing the next day, and knew Lori had been sitting right by it. I figured out what she had done, and found the bag. Then called her, and we had a good laugh. I also have a ceramic tree made by former girlfriend that has a place of honor in the center of the kitchen table. That is “in the will”, too!! We have fun joking about it!
This is the new white nativity. Most of the figures are over a foot tall.
Close up
At another time, I will put up pictures of some of my other decorations. I love Christmas!!!
Now, I have to get back to my Christmas cards!!
Have a great week. Hope you all stay warm. It was below zero this morning here!! We have been getting an inch or so of snow every couple days, and it looks like more of the same this coming week. YUCK!

Nice of the kids to come by and help! Have a great week!
What fun! Your tree is gorgeous! I was just looking at pictures from last summer, getting ready to design our annual Christmas card, and enjoyed thinking of the wonderful afternoon we had at your house. We really do need to get together again.
Yup, snowing again righ tnow, more snow on the way this week. I’ve been working full time (long story) at school so not much time to get things done. Bible study tonight here so I’d better get back to work pciking up. How is Ken’s ear healing?
What beautiful picture’s i also love Christmas and all the memories that go with it we trim are tree today and our son and grandaughter were talking about the different things we put on it and the memories behind them have a blessed week and stay warm
That Christmas tree is absolutely breathtaking and magnificent! (I couldn’t decide which word I wanted to use so I chose both of them.)
How nice of everyone to come over and give you a hand with the decorations. Sure makes that part go faster, doesn’t it?
I love what you did with the angel. We cover our standing fountain up with a plastic bag because I am afraid it will crack with the cold.
I think that white set is my favorite of the Nativities. It is so elegant. All the folds of “cloth” drape beautifully and the whole effect is wonderful.
Not sure what I will be getting out this year, but it is nice to enjoy other people’s decorations. Thanks for sharing!
I will probably just have to enjoy your pictures this year. Don’t see us getting much done inside. We are working on the outside.
I greatly enjoyed your tour. That’s the biggest tree I have ever seen!!!
Looks like the kids did a great job helping you–everyone looks great–I see you are a Christmas person and like to decorate it all–good for you. Poor Kenny washing dishes–are you sure he likes that or did you make him wash them ??? LOL-Don’t think I have ever seen John wash dishes-that would be a Kodak moment for sure
I love the pictures, especially the Christmas tree It looks great!
Love your tree and white Nativity the most. It makes me sad that I can no longer decorate and have no one to do it. Our daughter doesn’t even call us to check in and I have to remember she doesn’t do ‘manual labor’.
your house looks wonderful , so bright, cheerfull and very christmasy. Sorry about the Packers I thought they would of won yesterday
Your tree, and your decorations look absolutely beautiful. What fun to have your kids there to help you decorate.
Oh, I really love this photoblog. I can feel the love and warmth from here…..even for the old girlfriend decorations….I won’t be putting out as much this year since I do not have everthing in place and places for everything. But I am happy with it.
The all is incredibly beautiful . The tree is covered with ornaments and how many Nativity scenes of all kind , all very nice and especially the one in painted ceramic. Christmas is really present with those brillant decorations .
Excepted Ken ,of course !
About the work around the tree , I noticed the girls were working while the boys were supervising !!!!
Great post , Nancy /

OMG, your place so rocks with Christmas. One can tell you have been at the Christmas business for a long time.
