This morning I got out of bed, stumbled to the bathroom and looked out the window:
Nooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!
The snow is still coming down, but much slower, and it isn’t sticking—–yet.
I walked into the living room with my coffee, and Ken had opened the front door. The storm door window was all steamed up, and he had drawn a smiley face on it. Grrrrrr!
——————————–
On to a more pleasant story!
Last Saturday, DIL Lori called. Grand, Louise’s 14th birthday was to be Sunday. They had wanted us to come over there, but their main bathroom was out of order. They also had commitments on Sunday, and wanted to celebrate Louise’s birthday on Saturday instead. They asked if they could just bring the cake over here and we could celebrate her birthday here instead. I had planned on making spaghetti over the weekend anyway, so told them to come for dinner, too.
So they came over mid-afternoon. Lydia was home from college for the weekend, and Silas surprised us all later on. He had come home from college, too, just to pick up some winter clothes. He saw that nobody was home at his house, and thought they might all be here. He just stayed overnight.
But, it was the first time they had all been together in a long time. So, of course, I had to get my trusty camera out for a family picture!! Didn’t think I would get one before the holidays, since Lydia won’t be home for Thanksgiving. (She will be going to her boyfriend’s family in St. Louis that weekend. The St. Louis Rams had invited the interns to come to work at any one regular season game they wanted to—at their own expense. So Thanksgiving worked out perfectly for Lydia, since the Rams have a home game.)
Greg’s family:
Lydia decided she wanted to highlight her hair while she was home. They brought the kit along with them, and did it here. I won’t embarrass Lydia with some of the goofy pictures I took during the process. This picture was when Lori was pulling the strands of hair through the holes in the cap.
This picture shows it after it was all done. A very subtle change.
Greg was sweet enough to set up my Wii—–and, of course he had to “test” it to make sure it was working properly!! lol
He also had to give Avery pointers on the video game Avery was playing in the kitchen.
Silas, Louise and Linden playing games on my computer:
Louise with her birthday cake. (She LOVES “Hello Kitty”–that is a birthday shirt she is wearing )
I guess all the sugar made them all hyper. As they were leaving, they went into my bedroom to get their jackets from off my bed, and several of them—including Greg—ended up having a “tickle fest” on my bed!! There were legs and arms flying everywhere!! By the time I grabbed the camera they had quieted down a bit.
As the old saying goes—-”A fun time was had by all”!!

Uh oh, I know how you feel about the white stuff! The photos of Greg’s family are fantastic, you can feel the love!
I hope the white stuff does not come down too hard. Great photos of all the family, the hair looks great
When you have family time you create a celebration. That is so wonderful!
I actually envy you the snow. I can hardly wait for some here but the weather is calling for increasing warming…… we are so lucky to have a chance to experience the four seasons…. have a wonderful day as I hope for *stickage* here in the very near future. -g
ON YOUR BED!!!????!!! You are a much better mother/g-mother than I.
You just keep that white stuff up your way for awhile.
Love the family pic. Good looking Lori too. See where at least 2 of the kids got her coloring. Like the hair color.
SIGH, for some reason my wii isn’t here yet…you will be such a help to me when it finally gets here.
That is a beautiful picture…a good picture to look at from inside the house around a nice fireplace, under a warm quilt or..
.surrounded by loving family members.
I really like the job on the hair. Can she come and do mine?
Have a wonderful week end. Stay warm!

Yeah, I drove home from school in the “stuff” yesterday and then woke up to it this morning. Luckily it had turned to rain and quit all together for the Veterans Day Parade in Milwaukee, which is where Becky and I and the Oostburg marching band were today. I’m warming up now and I think Becky and I are going to go buy my Birthday Present! Can’t wait to open your “card” on Monday!
What a great family time. I love her hair.
My hair also got an update color this weekend.. I am an all over red head again instead of just red tips.
As I was ordering something yesterday, —-I had to use the phone…gasp!—the young lady on the other end of the line wanted to know about the weather where I am…..she said, “It’s already snowing here and I didn’t want to come to work.” Poor thing was somewhere in Minnesota……or maybe Wisconsin….no, it was Minnesota. I thought about you.
You have plenty of tech equipment to entertain the ‘troops’ of grands for sure. Looks like a great time.
Love the fact this family seems to be as high tech as mine. Lots of toys sure makes us happy around here, too!
Looks like fun was had by all!
Your family gatherings look a lot like ours, except my side looks like yours and Yvonnne, current nurse/wife has allllll dark haired and relatives…. Thanks for your comments.
Beautiful photo of the snow coming down. Looks like a blast with the family and I love the photo of them all on your bed.
They were calling for possible snow showers here, so I kept my eyes open, but did not see any flakes today. I haven’t put a foot outside today, though! It was so dark we had to have lamps on all day. I hate that.
I am jealous of your big screen for the Wii. I have a tiny screen which makes it difficult sometime. Did you play with it yet? What do you think? What are your favorites?
I love the highlight job – it looks GREAT! I never had good luck with those.
The birthday girl looks so happy – I think my Daughter still loves Hello Kitty but it’s not as cool to have around when you’re in your 20s. Then it has to be a secret love!
You always have pictures full of love and laughter as evident by those great smiles.
Her hair turned out gorgeous. I still get mine done by using a cap. I get mine low-lighted that way.
Another winter is almost upon us, Nancy. It was flurrying here all weekend and was very cold. Today the sun is out, but the temperature is still cold. I love your family pictures. I have a very small family and no one in town, so I love to see the fun and love in your family. Sorry I haven’t been here, but I’ve been busy not unwell so all is good.
Must have been color update weekend.
It does, indeed look like all had fun!
I totally agree with you about snow, but since we can’t do anything about it, other than move) I guess Ken has the right attitude.
