Mimiwi is a BAD, Bad Xangan!!
I have not been around much. Also not doing much commenting either. Just why I am not sure. I do read my subs in my e-mail, though.
We have been a little more busy around here. This past week has flown by.
We heard from son, Jeff, on Thursday. They arrived in Nashville Wednesday. I thought they would rent a u-haul to move the girls things down there. Well, it ended up that Jeff could buy an inexpensive, used 12 (or 15?) passenger van for about the same price. They managed to get almost everything in there and in Mindy’s car, and I suppose some things in the bus, too. Hannah followed the bus, and Mindy followed Hannah all the way to Nashville. There was one slight mishap. Well, not really a mishap—just a mistake. Symbolreader probably knows of this place where people turn the wrong way. We did the same thing once when we went to Arizona. It is where I 39 and I90 split near Rockford. If you are in the wrong lane, you end up heading to Chicago on a tollway. We had to drive about 10 to 12 miles to a toll booth, where we could get off and take a side road back to the right road. It must happen a lot, because the gal gave us a slip of paper with directions to get back to where we needed to be without having to pay more tolls. Anyway, Hannah turned wrong. I know the turn comes up quickly, and she evidently couldn’t get in the correct lane in time, and headed to Chicago. Mindy, who was behind her, saw Hannah turn and Jeff go the other way, and quickly decided to follow Jeff—–figured he knew the right way to go. Hannah was hysterical, and called Jeff on the phone. To make a long story short, she made her way back—probably the same way we did—-but she was really shaken up. I guess Judy volunteered to drive the van if Hannah was so upset, but Hannah said “No! If I can make it through this, I can make it through anything!!” You really have to know Hannah to understand all this. She can be very theatrical and emotional. I used to call her “DQ” for Drama Queen. We always knew where Hannah stood on anything. Never had to wonder!! But, she really is a great kid—well, young lady of 19 1/2. She is such fun!! Mindy is fun, too, but in a different way. Mindy is the “cool-headed” blonde.
The girls will be living on the SE end of Nashville, in Antioch. There is a big mall right off of the interstate, and their apartment is within walking distance of it. Will be interesting to see what jobs they get. They took a year’s lease on their apartment.
Jeff found out that he doesn’t have to be in West Palm Beach until Nov. 3. The company that hired him to be a “traveling” sign man is in Ft.. Lauderdale. While he is there, he will go and see them. They have approached him about Jeff’s being the head of the traveling crews. Will see what develops with that.
Jeff’s job at the Trump Golf Resort will last until the end of Nov.—through Thanksgiving. It is an LPGA tournament. Grandson, Jacob, (the one in chiropractic college in San Jose, CA) will be flying to Orlando the middle of Dec. to spend Christmas with them. Then Jacob will fly to New York City and spend New Years Eve there with some friends. Jeff doesn’t know where they will go after Jacob leaves. It may depend on what happens when he goes to Ft. Lauderdale and talks to them.
Jeff said that Catalina made the trip just fine. She seemed to like the movement of the bus.

We got our results from our trip to the dermatologist. I had one biopsy taken, and it came back clear. Ken had 8 biopsies, and 3 of the spots can be “frozen” off, but the other 5 are squamous cell cancer and have to be excised. One of those 5 may have to have MOHS surgery done—-it is in his ear. He doesn’t want that, but will talk to Dr. at the first session, when they will excise 2 spots. He panics at the length of time MOHS can take. He gets claustrophobic! The older he gets the worse it gets. It runs in his family. Anyway, all of this will take over a month to finish up. All those years of working without a shirt on in the summer sun is catching up with him.

Our oldest local grandson is going to college near Sheboygan, and just got a part-time job at Best Buy down there. I told him to keep an eye out for a Wii. He called last evening and said they got a few in, and if I wanted it he would get me one. I had decided NOT to get one (trying to cut down on expenses what with the stock market taking a dive). But the price was too good to pass up. Convinced Ken to let me get it as an early Christmas present. If we end up not going anywhere this winter because of the cost, at least the Wii will get me up and moving, instead of just sitting and vegetating! I told Silas OK. He called back a little later and said he got it, and there was only one left then!! It is just the basic Wii with one controller and the “Sports” game included. That is enough for now. Eventually I would want the Wii Fit. Think that would help me the most.

Well, that brings you up-to-date with us. The weather has been beautiful. In fact, right now it is 69 degrees. But it will get cooler in the next couple days. Have been cleaning up the planting beds. Well, Ken has done most of it. The flowers in planters are still going strong, though. Looks like there will be at least another week that will be frost free. I did bring my hibiscus plants inside. I was going to toss them out this year because they have gotten so tall. But Ken and the kids talked me into bringing them inside because they still have so many buds on. After they are done blooming I will cut them back so they aren’t so scraggly.

Good to hear from you my friend. I’ve heard good things about the Wii fit so that should be good for you anytime of year. Becky just informed me we should get a Wii for Christmas….. Probably not with all the wedding expenses etc…
Where is Silas going to college? Lakeland? or UW Sheboygan? I’m going outside to enjoy the nearly 80 degree day! Have a blessed Sunday!
I wondered what had happened to you ! Busy, busy as usual ? Thanks for the catch-up on the travellers. Love your hibiscus I had a couple some years ago but they died off
. Marie
It was fun “seeing you” in Isabel and Becca’s chat. I enjoyed reading your update.
Those are hibiscus?
I think they look like my camillias growing in my back yard… wonder if they are related in genus or something.
I am glad you are doing well
why is your whole state going RED?
I hope since you have been away… you have been educating the masses along the way
change that comment up there to:
WHY IS YOUR STATE BLUE!!!!!!??????
I am still laughing at “mommers”!!! I get mixed up, too, Rosemary!!
It was great to read this, Nancy. I had a bad piece of highway on I70 thru Indie and a turn off at Atlanta, GA. I know what that can do to you. Poor Hannah! I hired a couple to take me to O’Hare for a flight to the UK and they fouled up. I was frantic for I thought I would miss my flight. I finally told them to pull off and I would take a taxi, but just then they found the sign that told them where we were. Whew! I was so upset!
I can just see baby Catalina rumbling along with the highway beneath her. She doesn’t need rocking!!
I am glad you got my card. I am planning on going back on my own next year. There is an abbey in Kennebunkport, ME and I want to spend a week there. I love the ocean and there is access to the public on beaches there!
Tell Ken that I have to go have some “spots” removed soon. I put it off this year and I shouldn’t. My problem was that I was so light-complected that I couldn’t tan, I only sunburned. That adds up! I hope Ken’s are small and he gets well quickly!
Love always,
Bev
Good to see you back for a moment.
You got a Wiiiiiiii!!!!! That is so cool. Now, if SunnyC gets one, and then you both get the Wii Fit, we can be exercise buddies! Wheeeeee!
Did you make your Mii yet? : )
I got my Fit at Target for $89.99, although I have seen some outrageous prices on the web. Oh, I got a recharger kit for the Wii, because it does suck the batteries dry pretty quickly. I think that’s a worthwhile purchase.
You hibiscus are WAY better than mine; they just don’t get enough sun, I think.
You have the most interesting family. There is something exciting going on all the time! I love reading about their adventures. Looking forward to hearing about the newest Nashville Stars!
Louise above has jus got a Wii and I had to ask her what it was . She explained to me and I find it is a great tool for physical exercise .
Sorry To hear Ken has 5 surgeries to get for his skin spots and among them in his ear ! he must have them be done . It ‘ s important .
I read the little mishaps in the travel of Jeff and family . It is sure with the modern roads it is not easy to follow each other .
About the hibiscus it is one of the prefered flower of Janine .
Have a good week Nancy
Love
Michel
I have played tennis on the basic fit and wow it really worked those muscles. The flowers look too beautiful to let them die yet
We were going to rent a U-haul ifromYakima Washington to Las Vegas (where we live) to bring back my mother in law’s King size bedroom suite and they wanted over $1000.00. I was flabbergasted! Needless to say we didn’t do it. So it stays with my sis in law. I had 2 Hibiscus in my yard and they were murdered by Mealy bugs…I didn’t know they were mealy bugs because it looked just like some kind of white fungus…looked it up online but by that time it was too late.. I hate using chemicals..so we had to pull them up..They were sure pretty when we first got them…your’s look so healthy.
I do so envy anyone that can grow pretty flowers like those.. I have a brown thumb. All of my plants take one look at me coming and die before I get there.
I have played the Wii at my daughters and enjoyed it. I thought I wanted one, but thought it through and realized the only spot large enough in my house to use it was the living room and that is where hubby is always parked watching TV.. It would not be worth the effort to get the TV away from him, so I knew I would not use it enough to justify the cost. I am glad you got one, I think you will enjoy it.
Okay, so I need a Wii? I haven’t tried one, but have heard they are good both mentally and physically. I can’t let you and Sunny C get too far ahead of me. I didn’t have much luck with the chat on Friday night, so I just gave up and went to bed.
I hope Ken’s skin cancers are easily removed. My dad had a couple removed but they were on top of his ears. The doctor could easily reach them and they were just right there.
Hope your week goes well.
Tell Ken I had the Mohs on my nose, basal cell, and it was right after my fusion. While no fun the results of not having it would be worse.
Wii’s are so much fun. I’m glad that your doctor visit turned out well and hope that Ken gets everything taken care of.
Me bad, too, on Xanga and Diaryland, not to mention WordPress where I created a library log to win a free tshirt and then lost the details. Also have a blog on Today.com or something like that but never can find it. You get paid for blogging book reviews there, but never more that $50 a month.
Mim,..you’re not a bad, bad Xangan!! You’re a pretty cool Xangan!! and you’ve made a cool entry!!
I start to wonder if you have high spirit , Nancy . I hink it is yes . But …
Love
Michel
I WAS going to put my cam on and wink my stitch at you but that profile pic stopped my dead in my tracks. You must be the talk of the neighborhood.
HI! I’ve been a terrible friend lately, and I’m truly sorry. Will try to post and comment more. Things are looking up! I’ve been fighting a serious rash all over my lower legs for the last six months and had to have a biopsy finally. Will get the results this week. Dont expect its anything serious, just really uncomfortable. Made fianl decision on move, going to CA soon to look at houses. We WILL find the perfect one. Looking in the area of Lake County CA –thats about as close San Fran as we can afford..hehe
Oh I love your profile pic–I think it’s cute–bet you scare the neighbor kids on Halloween. We dont have as many trick or treaters any more-I think the schools have lot of things for them to do so they dont go door to door. Hope your hubbys surgerys turn out good. Love the hibiscus–My mom has one of the old ones-I think they call it dinner plate hibiscus–huge flowers
I’m glad to hear you guys are doing pretty well. I guess better to have Ken get all that stuff taken care of now, before it gets any worse.
As always, I love your funny Halloween picture!
