Our new roof.
It is so much nicer than our old black, warped edges, roof. Most of the roofs being put on in our town are using shingles that look more like cedar shakes—uneven sizes. It is still dark, but not black.

We also have a new freezer, which was delivered this morning. It is a little smaller than our old one, but should suffice. This one has shelves in the door, which the old one did not have. That will help make up the 3 cubic foot difference.
We are still eating vegetable soup and turkey, which I cooked up when we had to empty the old one and do something with some of the totally thawed food. Most of the food was still frozen, and we will get that back from sis-in-law’s freezer soon.
Louise, one of our local grands, stopped in yesterday to show off her new glasses. She is like me in that she likes “girly” things. So, plain old glasses were not for her.
Her sister Sylvia’s prescription didn’t change, and she was happy with her present frames. Sylvia is more sporty.

Dianelub had a blog up that showed pics of her and her hubby, using pics from old yearbooks with their
“now” faces put in. I had fun with this, too. Check out http://www.yearbookyourself.com/ , and have some fun.
I did Ken from 1954, using a recent pic of him. Because of the beard, it didn’t work the best, but still got a kick out of it. He actually wore his hair similar to this at the time.
I graduated in 1959, but they only do even years, so here is 1958. I notice that they keep the original person’s face shape and chin line, which makes a big difference. My inserted picture is the same in all the photos.
1960—I didn’t wear glasses back then! But this picture actually looks a lot like the senior picture of an old girlfriend of mine from that time.
I forget what year this is—-late 90′s I think. But I like the hairdo! The picture also makes me look good. Have decided that if I had had a narrower face, and a nice chin, I wouldn’t look half bad! lol I have always had a receding chin, which is even worse with all the extra weight I carry. I am the chinless (or maybe triple-chinned?) wonder!
Thanks Diane, for a few good laughs this morning!!

Tomorrow we have appts. with dermatologist. It is an annual thing for Ken, because he has a lot of skin damage from working outside shirtless in the summer since mid-50′s to mid-90′s! It has been quite a few years since I have gone, so it will be interesting to see what he finds, if anything.

Think DILove may be coming to MN with us and if that happens know we won’t get your way. I think she has to be back for work on Fri. She hasn’t found out for sure yet. Hope she can go but wanted to sight see more too.
Isn’t it interesting how much anything new on our house makes us feel better?
TheSunnyC has a good point. Anything new just seems to perk me up! Like my “new” kitchen. Just a little paint, new floor and border makes me love spending more time in there! The shingles are perfect for your house. Glad the new freezer arrived and soon you will be freezing stuff again!
I like your new roof, you most be glad to get the new freezer. Not a good game for the Packers but the Steelers won so I am happy
The new roof looks lovely. It really does make a person feel good when old things that no longer function properly are replaced.
I just love the glasses you GD chose – guess I like girlie things too
You were having fun with that photo program. Neat pics.
I graduated in 69
those are neat photos and I saw that site before and got frustrated trying to do it.
your little granddaughter will make the other kids want to have glasses
RYC: Geenita’s problem apparently is coming from the cancer.. My Daughter talked to her daughter today.
thanks for the encouraging words about the C-Pap. I left a reply on my site for you about it.
The roof looks good and I hope you soon finish or freeze the leftover soup. Soup should be good if your weather has cooled. Ours should be cooling down soon. We had thunderstorms last night, and the weather dude says the mountains will drop into the 40s tonight, with ours in the low 50s. I live less than an hour from Asheville, NC, so the trees will turn and I will go see the sights soon.
Those pictures are too cute.
Hooray for your new roof and freezer. We have a spare freezer in the garage but I only put it on in the winter since it gets so hot in there in summer.
hey, I really love to read your xanga.
you give me the feeling of a comfortable life, sweet memories, happy family!!!^^
Love your granddaughter’s new glasses.
That yearbook thing was fun! I tried it out but my problem was that I need to find a picture of mysef without my glasses on. The pics were funny looking with TWO pair of glasses on!
I hope your dermatologist appointment went well!
I like the pictures of you and Ken in the 50 ‘ s . Happy time , Nancy !
Your roof looks brand new and it is , of course !
Love
Michel
