  • Just a quick entry.

Roofers finished up Tuesday.  Enjoyed the peace and quiet yesterday.

    Until the afternoon.

I went downstairs to get something out of our freezer, and found thawing food!

I did a lot of cooking yesterday, and will do more today.

Our sis-in-law, who lives behind us, was kind enough to loan us a couple shelves in her freezer for storing some things that could be refrozen.

Ken is out right now shopping for a new freezer.

This evening, Ken’s sis and above mentioned sis-in-law will be here for dinner—Papa Murphy pizza.  That has become a tradition when Diana comes to visit from Atlanta.  Diana returns home Saturday morning.  They were supposed to be here for dinner last nite, but Diana got sick.  Hopefully, it is just a 24 hr. bug.  She said she would call if they cannot come.  She was feeling better last evening when we took the food over for the freezer.  Don’t know if I mentioned that she stays with sis-in-law when she is here.

The roof looks great.  It used to be black, but is a little lighter color now.  They say it will help keep the upstairs from getting so hot in the summer.  Will put pics up later.

Must get going and get a turkey in the oven—-one of the things that started thawing.

    Have a great day!

  • Bummer about the freezer.  At least you caught it before everything was spoiled.  And you have a place to go with some of it.  But still, lots of work that you didn’t intend to have to do.

New roofs are not the most glamorous home improvement project, but it must be done!

  • So what on earth happened to your freezer? I don’t think I ever get a REPLY from you so ignore the following. I am posting it on all of my comments now.
I hate REPLY in the comment section of Xanga so please don’t bother. REPLY just clutters my e-mail. So, if you read this comment and care to communicate please message, chat or better yet visit my site and comment with a RYC:

  • the worst surprise is a thawed freezer- and even worse one that has been sitting for a couple of days.  so pizza today when you are cooking turkey!?  mmmm the smell of turkey how wonderful.  we are missing Canadian Thanksgiving while we are in Turkey this year- the irony.  Turkey in Turkish is Hindi  go figure.

thanks for the lovely comment you left yesterday.  take care of yourself while I am away and enjoy the absence of rat-a-tat-tat on  the rooftop. -g

  • Mmmmmm turkey sounds good.. I like it well enough to have turkey and dressing any time of the year.  Can I come eat with you?    And you can use the reply for my invitation. LOL I know it is much easier to use that feature when you have a lot of posts  to read or answers to send.

  • You were lucky to catch it before too much was destroyed. Its a costly thing getting a new freezer

  • BUMMER!  I had that about a year ago with my fridge.  But we had been gone all weekend and came home to the mess.  Nothing was saved out of the freezer compartment.  But yeah, Turkey sounds wonderful!  You can cut it up refreeze and have Thanksgiving dinner all ready to go!

Glad you like the new roof.  Sometimes it can really make the house look better!

  • You don’t mention any total loss, but I wonder if your insurance would pay for any loss.   I can’t remember why, but I know one time we had some loss, and they told us we’d be covered.  But with a $250. deductible, we didn’t bother.

  • Good thing you found it before it was COMPLETELY defrosted!  EWWWW, that would have been a mess.

The new roof can make a difference.  We put on a mid-gray color the last timeinstead of the oroginal black, and I think it helped in the summer.

If I was cooking a turkey, I would have to eat the turkey after smelling it for hours.   I like cold pizza!  : )

  • Is Papa Murphy the one where you take it home and bake it? My sister has one of those places in the town where she lives, and we usually go there when I visit her…

  • Life certainly keeps us busy.  I think that is a good thing here in our cottage…keeps the boogey man away

  • Only frezzer we have is on the top of the frig. No room for one elsewhere.

Love your header btw, matches background. Did you make it?

  • This is the second no freezer working story I have heard recently…. makes me want to put an alarm on it!  I wonder if they make such a thing.

Glad your roof is sound and practical from a hot standpoint.   Nice looking site change too!

  • hey, there is Kathy and Tom above me.
