  • CATALINA MARIE

We had a great, but short visit with Jeff and family.

Will talk about Ken’s brother’s birthday party the next time.

Catalina got lots of loving from her Mimi and Papa in 1 1/2 days!

At less than a month old, all she does is eat, sleep and poop!  And cry a bit.  She is really a contented baby.  Jeff was like that when he was born.  He slept through the night before he was 2 weeks old.  Catalina sleeps about 6 hrs at night.

As promised, here are the pictures.

This one is a little fuzzy because I was holding her with one hand and trying to take her picture with the other—-and trying to get her when she wasn’t wiggling!!  This is the best one of about 5 I took.

Of course, Ken had to have a silly picture taken by the handicapped sign again.

You all know that the two kids traveling on the bus are home-schooled.  Gretta is a freshman in high school, and is taking Home Economics.  She decided to make us dinner on Monday evening as one of her assignments.  She made baked salmon with a lemon butter and rosemary baste, fresh asparagus, rice, and a decadent cake for dessert.  It was all delicious, and the salmon was cooked to perfection.  She had a little problem with the cake because the bus is not quite level, and the layers came out of the oven lop-sided.  It was homemade chocolate cake with a rich, thick layer of filling made up of cream cheese and chopped chocolate chips and cocoa.  Then the frosting was home-made whipped cream topping.  It may not LOOK beautiful, but it was sooooooo rich and delicious!  I am such a chocolate freak anyway!!  I can still taste it.  YUMMY!!!

Mindy and Hannah stopped in Sunday evening, but we were ready to go to the motel by then, so only got to visit with them for about 15 minutes.  They were going to record their fourth song for their demo CD on Monday.  Doggone it—–I just realized I forgot to put their 3rd song on my computer!!  I meant to do that.  Nuts!!

Jeff, Judy, and the 3 kids on the bus will be heading out the beginning of Oct., along with Mindy and Hannah following along in vehicles—heading to Nashville.  The fella from the local recording studio is from Nashville, and has been helping them with where to live, and which areas to avoid, giving them a lot of good pointers and contacts.

Judy said she would like to get over this way with the baby and the two youngest before they leave.  She wants her dad and her siblings to see the baby.  But, their schedule may not allow it.  She just has to wait and see.  Jeff is working for another week or so.

They also gave us a newspaper from the area where they had the baby.  A reporter came to the campsite and interviewed them.  They made the front page of the paper, along with a picture.  Whenever I get it scanned into the computer I will put it up here.  A really nice article about them!

When we were in LaCrosse a month ago, just before the baby was born, they had a family picture taken the day after we left.  It was with Jacob’s camera, and he finally e-mailed them the pictures.  They had it on one of their cupboard doors.  Told them to e-mail it to me, too.  But I took a picture of the picture, since I didn’t know when they would get around to it.

In back:  Jacob 24, Hannah 19, Mindy 21, Jordan 23

In front:  Gretta 14, Jeff, Judy, Kenny 11

Must go and pick up a prescription from Walgreens.  We are still waiting for the roofers—it is now noon.  But, am not surprised.  Ken’s sis came over here early this morning, and was here most of the morning, waiting for them to come.

Ha!  I spoke too soon.  They have just pulled into the driveway!!

  • I knew Jeff’s kids were widly spaced but guess I just didn’t realize how old the older ones were. What did they think about the baby? Wil says that when the youngest in their family was on the way all the older ones were so embarrassed that their mom way preg. Good looking family and that baby already looks like the rest of the kids.

  • She is gorgeous- like all August babies They are a lovely looking family aND talented as well, you must be so proud oif them all. Ken couldn’t pretend that Jeff isn’t his son could he ? Marie

  • Finally!  Glad the visit went well.  The baby is gorgeous and the kids really seem to be excited about this addition.  It will keep Judy and Jeff young!

  • Beautiful photos of your lovely family. I am surprised the one you took of Catalina while holding her really came out so well – you are braver than I would be to attempt that.
I think Gretta is doing an awesome job with ther Home Economics, the meal sounds delicious.
I am happy to read you had such a good time on your visit. You are going to miss seeing them as they continue their way. Neat they were featured in the paper. Will look forward to seeing the write-up when you post it.

  • Awwww, what a cutie pie.  Even when she is fussing!  Mmmmm – that dinner sounds out of this world!

  • She is wonderful , I love her sleepsuit. Your DIl looks great to and seems to have lost her baby weight as well. You woul not think she was a mother of 7

  • Mimiwi, you take the BEST pictures!  Those turned out great!  (Even the picture-of-a-picture.)

The baby is adorable, but so tiny.  Who does everybody she think she looks like?  I can never see it in tiny babies, but apparently I am the only one.  I am amazed that she sleeps so long through the night.  (And a little envious!)

The dinner Gretta made sounds fabulous!  Of course, she could have stopped at the chocolate cake, and that would have been fine by me…chocoholics unite!  Yet another talented grandchild, I see.

They make a beautiful/handsome group, too.

Looking forward to reading that article when you get a chance.

    Good luck with the roofing!

  • What a wonderful visit, eh?!  What a life your grandchildren have, living on the road.  Very cool!

I can’t wait to read the article that was in the paper.

LOVE the photo of your hubby by the handicap sign.  Too cute!

  • Great shots and that baby is delightful looking.  I guess when you have 7 to keep up with, you get to look that good.

  • Right now I’d say Cat resembles her mom. Love the handicap picture, what a sense of humor.

  • Wow!  I felt so excited seeing all the pictures.  In my mind I was planning a wonderful party with all the family if and when they ever get back out to the Northwest.  I think because two of my kids live on the same street with their total of 10 grandkids (5 each) and they homeschool…. I just thought your son, beautiful daughter in law, and very blessed g-kids would be a tremendous encouragement to my kids… I know selfish, selfish, selfish of me!!!  ….and I thought we all  might just be a blessing to your family as well.  So the RV spot is still available, weather has been awesome… still in the 80s & 90s but a change is coming….. so maybe next summer.  Let them know for me… I should probably just tell the Lord instead.  Hmm, ok well.. whatever the Lord says… thanks a million for being so open and sharing your wonderful family with us.

Ps  Also, I appreciate your larger print…. it is so easy to read.  I should take a lesson from you.

  • What a wonderful post!  Your family is lovely and the baby is beautiful….as all August babies, you say.  Ahem…..my birthday was Aug. 30th.  I must have been a beautiful baby.

The picture of Ken is really cute.  The meal sounds delicious.  I should have home schooled my kids and maybe I could have taught one of the girls to cook for me:)  Actually, one of mine loves to cook and could probably be a chef somewhere.
