I have really been a bad Xangan.
I have been reading my subscription digest, but doing almost no commenting.
So sorry!!
Not much time to write today, either.
Ken’s sis decided on a roofer. One day it was kind of funny. One roofer hung around talking so long, I was worried the next roofer was going to arrive before the first one left! That didn’t happen.
They will start on the roof next Wednesday. She wanted it done before she left, so that eliminated a couple of the roofers that came.

Tomorrow, Saturday, we will be going over to Appleton for Ken’s next younger brother’s 70th birthday bash. It is so hard to think of something to get, so am just going with silly stuff. Kind of “memory” gifts. M ate with us for a while before he was married, and I used to make LOTS of casseroles. When he got married he told his wife NOT to make noodles for him—he had his fill while living with us! lol So, of course I am giving him a package of noodles. Ken is giving him some bent nails—-said M collected them when he was young. Also found a cherry flavored candle that has cherries embedded in the wax. One of their relatives had a cherry orchard up in Door County, and the family would spend a week up there, helping pick the crop, and making about 5 cents for every pail they picked. Ken just picked up a package of caramels. They would get 4 or 5 caramels as a treat after their weekly bath when they were little.
That is what we have thought of so far. Maybe be tomorrow afternoon we will have thought of something else.
We will be driving over with Ken’s oldest sister and hubby. They cannot drive distances anymore, so Ken will drive their car.

Then, early Sunday morning we will head over to LaCrosse to FINALLY see our newest granddaughter, Catalina Marie. Talked to Judy a couple days ago, and little Cate is growing by leaps and bounds now. Says she is a very contented baby. They wanted us to come Saturday, because friends are giving Judy a baby shower. But we had the plans made for M’s party already. If we don’t go to that, Ken’s sis won’t be able to go—no driver. We will only stay until Tues. a.m. because Ken wants to be here when the roofers start on Wed.. I also have lab work scheduled for Wed. a.m.

This is just too much crammed in at one time for me. I wanted to wait until next weekend to go to LaCrosse, but Ken said no. I also would have liked to have more time with the new baby, since it will be quite a while before we see them again!

Must get this day going. Need to do laundry, get clothes together for the trip, make something to take along to the party tomorrow, and make something to take over to the kids.
Tough to do when I have been battling a light depression, and all I want to do is sit and do nothing!! The weather cooled down very quickly—got down to 41 a couple nights ago. Makes me realize winter is not far away—-which depresses me even more!
Hope you all have a great weekend.
Here’s a kaleidoscope I made.
Hmmm. It came out kind of blurry. Sorry about that. Didn’t seem to be when I made it!

You are going to be very busy! I love your “gift” ideas for Ken’s brother. I had a good week this week getting stuff done but yesterday I hit the skids. Didn’t do a darn thing all day. I feel better today. I am not looking forward to winter either. After last year I’ve decided that I really do dislike winter immensely at least most of the time. Hopefully this one won’t be as long or as cold.
Have a good time this weekend and enjoy what little time you have with that precious new grand daughter!
I think it’s the time of year – no drive at all! I am eager to see pictures of you and your new grandchild – how fun! And I think he will like your presents much better than any “serious” gift – much more meaningful!
I’m glad someone else isn’t feeling the urge to do anything. It’s for sure I’m not. I am back to taking my little white pill regularly. I’m just nuttier than a fruitcake!
I kinda thought you might be a noodle cook. Hey, I like noodles. Cheers
I think the gift ideas are great! Only the people who know and love you can come up with things like that.
I’ve been really tired and bothered by allergies, myself, which makes me evem more tired. The light is decreasing more and more quickly, as well, which is something I dislike, and that could be what is affecting you. Did you ever end up getting a light to help combat that?
Why is it that so many events have to be crammed in at once, instead of being leisurely enjoyed? It’s always that way, I think. of course, these days we are always busy anyway, so there ARE no times of leisure!
Have fun! (I know you will.)
You are going to be very busy , I hope you have a great weekend with the family. Ps do not forget to take lots of photos
Well, after all, “idle hands are the devil’s workshop” or something like that. So I am guessing that a busy schedule will keep you out of trouble…..never works for me either. Hope the week is a happy one for all of you.
I fixed noodles (aka pasta) today. Beef Stroganoff. Ended up with enough for 3 meals.
I know the feeling of not having enough time. I wanted to be in Dallas area this weekend for granddaughters 5th birthday but too many things on the burner. Did not feel like I could take the extra days off since I will be going down there in November and again after the first of the year when DauL has her hernia surgery. Guess it was a good thing I had already decided not to because Ike will be visiting them also with his winds and rain. Also wanted to go in Oct for GSonC’s birthday but that has been put on hold also. Sure wish they lived closer!!! A 6 -7 hour trip one way just does not work for a two day weekend.
What a great set of fun memory gifts – he should get quite a kick out of them all.
You do have a very busy but exciting weekend here. Enjoy it all.
Cool sphere! Have a great time seeing your relatives. I know it is really busy for you, but try to relax while there. Also, don’t forget we have Indian Summer…it will warm up again.
How funny! The gifts you’ve chosen sound perfect! I love the kaleidoscope!!
I like Carol take a “little white pill” to help with depression/anxiety. It’s amazing how many people these days have to do that.
I LOVE the gifts that you are giving your brother-in-law. I’m sure he will appreciate of them!
Take good care of yourself.
The memory gifts are such a neat idea. Who doesn’t have everything they need after they pass 65? lol
Beautiful kaliedoscope. Sounds like you are busy as always. I am chuckling at the memory gifts for Kens brother. Hope your depression lifts and that you are back to your old self soon.
