  • Ken’s youngest sis arrived from Georgia yesterday afternoon, and started calling roofers right away.  One came and gave her a price today, and another will come Tuesday.  Didn’t get calls back from the other 4!!  Very frustrating, since she wants the roof done before she leaves in three weeks.  She is staying with sis-in-law who lives behind us.  It has been two years since she has been here.

I told you the other day that I was going to put up pictures from when we went to see Ken’s other younger sis on Wednesday.  Well, I’m finally getting to it!

Linda had given me a belated birthday present—several small floral-scented candles.  Her hubby, Roy, decided they looked like deodorant sticks.

He is such a NUT!!!  He is going to hate this picture when he sees it.  lol

Linda loaned Ken a hat to wear for a while, and we decided it made him look Amish—do you agree?

Had to tour the outside of the house.  Linda loves puttering in her garden, and it seems to get bigger and bigger each year.  Here are several pictures.

    Roy by side of garage.

Back of house.  All those sunflowers were “planted” by the birds, and Linda just let them grow.

Linda and Roy and “friend”—-a much nicer picture of  Roy!

Linda and Ken sitting at “Kenny’s Korners”.  She even has a picture of him encased in plastic stuck in the ground by the gnomes.

Then Roy took a picture of Ken and I by the arbor.

He told me he was holding his cap in front of me in order to hide my belly.  I told him he needed a bigger cap!!!!!

Lydia and her boyfriend, Nate, stopped in for a little while this morning while the roofer and sis were here.  They were just here overnight, because Lyd still wasn’t caught up completely on her homework from the days she missed.  She had to bring some things home she didn’t need for school.

It was good to hear more about her experience with the Rams, and to hear about Nate’s experiences being a counselor at a camp serving mentally and physically handicapped people.  He had to go to the hospital once to be treated for a bite he received from a camper.  Poor guy!

Just read in this morning’s paper that the kite festival drew an estimated crowd of 25,000.  Amazing numbers, since our town’s population is only 13,000.  The festival keeps drawing more people each year, and it is only in it’s third year.

  • Thank you for the pictures, the happy charming post and sharing.  You are such a beautiful family TONTOO

  • I have another number for you if she doesn’t like the two that she gets from up there.  Our neice’s husband is a roofer and will travel a ways to roof (he did our cottage for us).  Let me know if you would like his number.  great post, awesome garden,   And yes, Ken does look a bit Amish in that picture.  Glad you got to see and talk to Lydia.

  • I always love what you capture in your photos :)

  • Wow, their garden is gorgeous!
    *sparkle

  • Wow!  If she runs out of room and feels like puttering some more, tell her to come to my house!

  • What a beautiful garden.  Looks like lots of fun was had by all.

Sorry to hear Nate was bitten, ouch, human bites can be nasty and get infected easily.

  • What a beautiful garden.  Flowers, flowers, everywhere!

This reminds me, I meant to get back here to tell you how much I enjoyed the kite pictures.

  • Her yard is beautiful !!! She does a good job

Kenny the Amish gnome???Hmmmmmmmm I will have to think about that one–lol

Hope you find a good roofer who doesnt charge to terrible much !

  • Yes, Roy sure looks like the kind of nut I would go visit:  Yes, Ken looks a bit Amish in the hat and in the gnome spot, and No, he doesn’t need a bigger hat to cover you, I was thinking you looked so svelte.

  • Mimiwi, you take a lovely picture.  And, you take lovely pictures!  : D

    The “gnome spot” is brilliant!

We always have a terrible time getting anyone to come out to give an estimate.  Sometimes two is as good as we have gotten.  Our neighbors across the street are putting on a new roof, but I think they may be doing it themselves.  I haven’t seen a marked truck parked by the house, it doesn’t look like a “crew”, and it is taking them forever!  They haven’t started the front of the house yet.  Guess they are using the back for practice?

The birds did a swell job of enhancing the landscaping, didn’t they?  Those flowers sure put mine to shame.

  • I just wanted to comment as well on the lovely garden of your friend.  It’s GORGEOUS!  I’d love her to work in my garden as well!  lol  Also, I loved the pics on the kite festival, as well.  Thanks for sharing.

  • Yep Ken looks Amish. Her yard makes me want to cry. I can’t have anything like it.

  • The pics of the garden are just so lovely – I could lose myself in them. Just wish my flowers and yard was half as good.
Great photos too of you, Ken and the others.

  • What nice pictures…the flowers are colorful and gorgeous and make me dream of how nice it is in the N. and MW in the summer.

I won’t be around Xanga at all for the next several days(weeks?) but I did want to stop by and say “s’long” for awhile.

RYC:  As far as RV’s are concerned, BORN FREE is the only one I know that really holds it’s value. If we ever traveled via RV again, that’s what I would definitely want.  When we traveled, we would be out 6 mos of the year and since we had 3 pets that we were toting along, we needed a lot of room inside.  The cats took much more room than our sweet little JouJou.  We always had to find a place for a litter box.  Then we had to feed the cats on top of a counter(which are small in RV’s) since dogs should never eat cat food.  We were so very careful with our little JouJou and then she still got the stinking kidney failure…We think they were damaged when she got a severe infection in CO.

Thanks for stopping by.  I’ll be back …sometime.

    Fran

  • Yes Ken looks Amish in that hat.  That is a beautiful yard and garden.  Geat photos.
