Oh, We’re Off To See The Lizard—The Wonderful Lizard of “Trivers”!!
Yeah, I know. Pretty bad!!!!
This weekend is our 3rd annual “Kites Over Lake Michigan” festival.
It started yesterday, and continues today.
We went down at 9 a.m. this morning.
Nothing going on—-no wind.
On the north end of the beach, just the seagulls were enjoying the beautiful weather.
Turning around, not many people this way, either.
The flags along the shore are pretty still.
Ken went back down about 3 hrs. later, and the scene was quite different!! The parking lots were jammed. Ken just happened to see someone pulling out of a spot, and was able to snag it.
Not a whole lot of kites up yet, though. The breeze isn’t as good as it was yesterday, and am sure some of these BIG kites were waiting for more wind. They are all laid out and ready to fly.
No more commentary—just pictures.
I went online to our newspaper, and yesterday their photographer took about 34 pictures of the festival. Lots more kites up yesterday. If you have time—or the inclination, follow the link below.

I talked to both Jeff and Judy yesterday. Judy is still very tired after giving birth less than 2 weeks ago. I am sure the older one is giving birth, the longer it takes to recuperate. Her milk is not coming in properly either. The baby has not gained back it’s birth weight yet. They took her in to a pediatrician, and Judy saw a breast-feeding specialist. Judy has to get more fat into her diet, and also supplement with oil. They are also supplementing the baby with formula. The baby tested out perfectly, though. Nothing wrong with her, except she needs more milk.
They will be at the campground for another week yet. We plan on going over to LaCrosse again sometime during the week of Sept. 15th. Cannot wait to see little “Cat”.

Local kids heard from Lydia (who was an athletic training intern for the St. Louis Rams training camp). She is back at school, after about 3 weeks in St. Louis with the Rams. The head athletic trainer was so impressed with the 5 interns this year, that he asked them all to come back for next year’s training camp. Said they were the most dedicated and professional bunch they ever had!!
The interns were also told that any one of them could come to a regular season game and help out. Lydia has been invited to her boyfriend Nate’s parents’ home for Thanksgiving. They had been lay missionaries in Puerto Rico for several years. Now they are back in St. Louis, and Nate’s dad is going to Seminary to become a minister. The Rams also have a home game that weekend, so as of now, that will be the game she will intern for. The Rams told the interns that if they did help at one of the games, they (the interns) would have to find their own way to the game and pay for their own lodging. This would work perfectly for Lyd.
She was on the sidelines for three pre-season games. Really enjoyed it.
I hope she gets home here sometime soon, so we can hear all about it. She missed the first week of school, so she is staying at school and catching up on the class work she missed. Lots of homework!!
You may not hear much from me this week. Ken’s sis from GA is supposed to come sometime this week, and I need to whip this house in shape!! She stays with our sis-in-law who lives right behind us. We hope she can make it. A medical problem may delay her, but we hope not!!
We also have our day trip on Wed. to another sis’s house. So, I will be busy—for a change! lol

Oh fun! Our kite festival is part of our July 4th festivities, too hot for the fair skinned Langs!

I always enjoy your kite pictures. Have fun with all the company and running around.
I am thrilled to know you have a busy fun week planned!
I absolutely adore these photos! what a fun day. I love lake Michigan. I wish I could be there right now!
Love the kites. Wish I could of been there. Would love to go to NM for the hot air balloon fests too.
Lovely photos especially of the gorgeous BLUE sky. Today is the first in weeks that we have seen a blue sky and sun so I’m feeling much happier.

I am tickled to come in here and see you have used the kites as your top pic and background – neat!
What a great show on the beach here, looks like a wonderful way to spend the day looking at all of these different kites. So colorful and fascitating. No wonder there is such a great turnout. And the wind came back enough to get them up there. Great photos of the event.
I know you are looking forwarding to seeing the little one – hopefully the extra fats in Judy’s diet will help get her milk back to par and filled with energy again. Good to see the baby is doing well and will soon be gaining weight now they know she does need to be supplemented.
Congratulations to Lydia – she is a busy girl and I am sure thrilled at the compliment the team gave her.
Have a great week with Ken’s sister
Oh what fun, and fantastic photos.
The kite and hot air balloon festival here was grounded this morning. I haven’t heard about the afternoon. These are some gorgeous pictures you have shared.
The Mom and Miss Kitty will figure it all out. There is just a little more to getting it worked out when there is an older Mom. (Atleast that is what I have heard…)
your pictures are awesome; heck, YOU are awesome! thanks for sharing…luv,
sage
I’ve been OOI, out of it! Happy belated birthday! Your sky up there on the lake is just as beautiful as ours down here on this end of the lake! I can’t imagine living anywhere else! Praying for the newest member of your family and mommy…those nursing problems can take alot out of these poor kids of ours!
gorgeous pictures!! and my heart goes out to mommy and new baby! it can be so trying when a brand new one is not doing as well as we would like… we’ve been going through a bit of that with the smallest twin (my niece had twins girls a month ago)… take care, darlin’ and enjoy your company!
