Talked to son, Jeff, (the travelers)last evening.  He, Judy and the two youngest are back in LaCrosse for the summer.

Judy is feeling very well.  Found out her due date is Aug. 24—-Greg’s Sylvia’s birthday.  I am hoping the baby is 4 days late, and will be born on my 67th birthday!  That would be soooo neat!  I should tell Judy to just keep her legs crossed!  lol

We will going over to visit with them and the rest of their kids on August 10.  Oldest grand, Jacob, will be flying in from San Jose for a chiropractic convention at Palmer Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, and then will come up to LaCrosse for a couple days.  We will stay for 3 days.

After we leave there, Jeff, Judy and the two youngest will take the bus down to the southern part of the state, where they have located two midwives.  They visited with them yesterday, and liked the women very much.  Jeff will camp a few miles away from the midwives, and when Judy goes into labor the midwives will come to them, and the baby will be born on the bus. They will stay down there until mid-Sept..  After that, they may return to LaCrosse for a couple weeks.

Before you all start worrying, Jeff and Judy had their second youngest at home during a snowstorm, without any help.  So, they know what they are doing.  Of course, there is always a concern, but I try not to think about it too much—and I believe in the power of prayer!  Just worrying does no good!

Their two oldest girls—the singers—plan on moving to Nashville around October.  Jeff isn’t sure if they want his help with the move or not.

Jeff has to be in West Palm Beach, Florida the beginning of November to do signage for another golf tournament.  It will be at the Trump Golf Resort there.  That will be almost a month’s work.  They don’t know where they will go from there.  We will keep track of them for sure, because Ken says that if we go somewhere down south for a couple months this winter, we would probably want to be in the same general area they are.

Some of you have been following their journey, and I know you enjoy the updates.  They are parked on a friend’s property who lives out in the country.  Jeff just bought a small motorcycle that they will take along with them on the road.  That way, Jeff could use the cycle to go to work wherever they are, and Judy still has a car available for herself and the kids.

Tomorrow is a dental appointment for me.  Had one last week, too.  On Wed., Ken goes to the urology surgeon for his second check-up after his surgery.  Other than that, life is quiet for us, and that is just fine!

The weather is still on the cooler side.  It was supposed to get up to 80 today, but it didn’t.  It got up to the mid-70′s for a couple hours, and then the wind shifted and we got a lake breeze.  Now it is only 67 at 5:30.

Hope you all have a great week!!

  • She’s just over a month away – I didn’t realize her due date was that close to Michelles!

Michelle discovered the importance of drinking water when she’s a nursing mother after a day of not drinking much – she almost passed out at dinner.  Now she knows!  Why does she have to scare me like that?

  • Well, that is a very pretty lamp. You have the decorating thing going there though.
    I do not, I try….

I will be thinking of you at the dentist. never fun.
I went last week and even though I did not have any thing to fix, she scraped my teeth so much it was really horrible.

It has been hot and humid here. trade you anytime.

  • Beautiful day here.  I didn’t realize she was that close to her due date.  There is no way I could have delivered at home.  I need the comfort of Doctor’s and Nurses.  My babies were all very big, 9lb 3 oz, 9lb 14 oz, and 8lb 11oz.

  • I LOVE it! It’s gorgeous!

  • Your lamp is lovely. The time is coming around quick for your DIL now, it must be lovely to be able to have your child in your own home

  • Your new lamp is beatiful.   I went to the dentist yesterday …yuck….   it’s cooler here too.  but will heat up by the end of the week.

  • It is a gorgeous lamp!  You have very nice decor!

I have been so out of touch lately that I didn’t even realize you were going to be a grandma again too!  Of course, mine is due any minute… how about a “belly” shot of Judy’s belly?

Sounds like the kids are doing very good.  Someday, maybe we will get to meet up with them.

  • “…I was born on the back seat of a greyhound….rolling down highway number 9?…..

I think those are the right words….I hope so anyway.

The lamp is quite lovely.  It words well in your room.

  • With the gas crunch my husband was talking motorcycle. I sure nipped that in the bud with his lack of hearing!

Alright if I send our heat your way?

  • Lovely lamp Thank for the update of the travellers. Judi is very brave but I suppose that really childbirth is a natural thing isn’t it ? My birthday is the 20th of August – all the best people are born in August don’t you agree  I know you must be worried but as you say there is no point in getting worked up about something you have no control over. Marie

  • WOW! You are some fancy smancy decorator. All my stuff is plain jane.

Glad things are going well for the to be new again mom. It will be interesting to have a new baby and all the trappings in a motor home with 2 teens. YIKES

  • Hey Nancy!  Very nice lamp you’ve got… It goes perfectly with your decor.  I have a floor lamp with a shade that has beads, too.  I’ll have to send you a picture of it.  I’m trying to catch up with all my Xanga-buddies.  I’m glad to hear your crew is doing well!!  And I long for 67 degree days… It’s been in the 90′s here with the heat index over 100…. which makes for a very sticky situation, literally!  Take care!

  • I love old things like that–it’s like going back in time!

  • To answer your question whether I will retire completely or find other work… the answer is retire completely. I have worked my entire life and frankly, I’m tired of getting up and going to work every day. I never wanted to be a “career woman”, but that’s the way it ended up… The word “bored” is not in my vocabulary… I am NEVER bored… and I’m not lazy…I just love being at home. I can find a hundred things to do… whether it be cross-stitching, crocheting, working in the yard, or working on the house… and I do plan to travel a little to see my friends… and my son!! :heartbeat:

  • That lamp fits in beautifully with your decor.

So now, I know when your birthday is!:yes:

Do you think there is a possibility then that you will be in FL in November?  That’s a nice time to be here.

I don’t think the “global warming” thing has hit here since we are actually a few degrees cooler than we usually are at this time of the year.  Hey, I’m not complaining.

I have confidence that everything will be ok with Judy’s up and coming delivery…They are an awesome couple!

  • Beautiful lamp  very well decorated .Perhaps you would be able to try it with the kaleidoscope .
Thanks for the travellers ‘ news and especially from Judy .

    Love

    Michel

  • I see carnival glass!

  • @tlm0000 -  I just picked up that candy dish at our Lutheran resale shop a week ago.  The grandkids know that they can help themselves to candy that is in the bowls there.  Since the picture was taken, I moved that dish next to my chair.  I keep my sugarless candy in it.  Worried about the grands dropping the lid and breaking it.

I also have a bowl that my stepdad won when he was about 12—in 1927— from a bakery that had just opened.  That stays on a display shelf in my bedroom—don’t want anything to happen to it!

    Do you collect it??

  • @mimiwi - Well, I guess it depends on your definition of collect.  I’ve been tasked to post pictures of my favorite glass this week, so the timing is funny.  Maybe I’ll do it this afternoon.  My mom had a few pieces and I just loved them.  She wanted me to have it when she was gone, and since then my sister has bought me a few pieces to add.
