  • I have changed my profile picture.

    Remember this picture, Vex???

    I call it “Wisconsin sunbathing”

It is pretty appropriate, considering our weather this summer.  Because Lake Michigan is so much cooler this year, our town is cooler, too, since we jut out into the lake.

This morning I had to go out early for my annual “mammary mash”, and I had to wear a jacket.  It is now 4 p.m., and after the clouds and rain, it is now waaaaay up to 70.

We have not even brought up our portable air conditioner.  We are just using our ceiling fans, and portable fans when we need it, which is very seldom.

I was looking at pictures I took a year ago of our plants and shrubs.  This year they are at anywhere from 1 to 2 weeks behind last year.  Last year my day lilies were all in bloom.  They are just in small buds now, and a couple haven’t even put up their flower stalks yet.  Lost 3 or 4 perennials from our severe winter, too.

I have been spending some time outside, but not as much as I would like to.  The mosquitos are horrendous this year.  No matter where I walk or sit, they find me.  Normally, sitting in the sun would keep them away, but not this year.  I think everybody in the midwest has the same problem because of all the rain we have had.  And I hate using mosquito repellent!!

Several of you mentioned that you like Greg’s Christmas tree.  I found a bigger picture of it.

I just ordered a new floor lamp from Penneys.  Will take a picture of it when it gets here.  I don’t think Ken likes it, but it fits into my living room very well.  And, surprise, it is NOT another tiffany style lamp, even though it is made  by the Dale Tiffany company.  (I can just hear my kids and grands groaning, lol)

For those of you concerned about our new windshield.  It is just fine.  There really is nothing wrong with it.  Think it just has to do with the curve of the window at the side.

  • I love that tree!  Your profile picture too!

  • You have the spirit

  • Glad to see a posting. We are really hot and humid here now. Of course it is July in MO. I am tired and so is Wil and dealing with another drama with dau…this one really not of her making but sure put me in a bind. Wil rescued me and I will pay him back so that is good. Dau. will also rescue me in 2 wks. It is just another blip on the radar for her. SIGH I do hope things begin to turn around for her soon. G-dau can hardly wait until she can go off to college and get away from all the dramas in that family. Of course g-dau contributes to the dramas on her own but maybe if she gets out of that invironment she will improve. Who knows!

  • I noticed the profile pic from your comment.  And here I thought you were jsut trying to cool off!  It’s hot here, but the mosquitos are just as awful.  I felt like a giant pincushion this morning when I was watering, and it was after 10 in the morning!  I think I would like your weather, actually.  I run so warm these days that I like it on the chilly side; it feels good to me!

  • we tell everyone here they can blame the cooler weather on us as we got a small pool this summer and have only been able to play in a few times.  grrrr!!  today did get hot and humid so in the pool we went.

  • Ick – mosquitoes seem to find me too.  I used burts bees natural repellent and it seems to work.

    Love the profile pic  :giggle:

  • Love the profile photo of the energetic Nancy  It’s cold here with temp in the late 60s and a North Westerly wind but the garden is blooming as there has been a lot of rain. Seeing the Christmas tree reminds me to start looking for presents NOW ! Marie

  • Love that tree! Wish I could remember the ‘mammary mash’ for my next one.
